I love Halloween. Not "All Hallows Eve" or the evil aspects of it, just the good creepy fun that makes shivers run down your spine. About five years ago, I sent in a little story to a website that collects eerie experiences in Ohio. Go here to read about it. It seems silly now to read about it, but at the time we were more than a little freaked out!

As we speak, Hunter has tried on about ten different costume choices for Trick or Trunk tonight. He is definitely my "special effects" artist in the family. I think he should have a show on Nickelodeon. :) I also think it would be cool to go to the Ghost Walk in Millersburg. It's put on by the Millersburg Historical Society and has live actors acting out the "experiences" that they tell you about. Not sure I will go, but thinking about it.

My friend Leslie Limon, who lives in Mexico, shared a spooky little experience that was very interesting to read. Go here to read her story! It will give you a little shiver.

I had a very interesting week working at Coblentz Chocolates. I've been hired there as seasonal help, working up until Christmas. It's the first time in 20 years I've worked a 40 hour work week. Crazy. It's also very hard watching all the chocolates and caramels go by and not just grabbing them to eat! Kind of interesting, Women Who Eat Chocolate... and now I'm working in a Chocolate Factory! How ironic.

Oh Leslie...the chocolates that come through there are stupendous. My Aunt also reminded me of that "I Love Lucy" episode -- and yesterday I DID work on the conveyor belt! haha

Victim-blaming. Must. Stop .  Can't we see? Do you tell a girl that was raped that it was her fault?  Do you find ways to tell a dead boy it was his fault he was killed? Short skirts don't lead to rape - rapists do . Dabbling in drugs doesn't mean you deserve to die . Why are we picking apart a dead child's 17 year old behavior? To make us feel better? Do we say, " He was a hoodlum so his death is justified ?" No one deserves to die. No one deserves to be picked apart in death. No girl "asks" to be raped. We can't say the two are not the same kind of blaming.   Victim-blaming. Must. Stop .

We're celebrating our anniversary tonight -- 20 maddeningly lovely years .  It's not that I picked George out of a crowd, God led me to him.  I was supposed to do my VS assignment in Phoenix, AZ that winter of 1988.  At the last minute, they changed it to San Antonio, TX.   Where George lived.  God just knows. "By in love she meant the acuteness of the heart at the sudden sight of a particular person or the way over a couple of years of interested friendship one is suddenly stunned by the lungs' longing for more and more breath in the presence of that friend."  ~Grace Paley The wine is chilling, steaks and shrimp are marinating, and a variety of veggies to grill are cut and prepared.  French bread is waiting to be torn off as needed, and two lovely pink candles (a anniversary gift from a friend) are waiting to be burned.  We are setting this day aside for us -- because that's what we were first...us.
